A Bevy of Folks
Today was June 14th, flag day also the day I scheduled a bunch of shit to be done at the house. The boiler service man, a technician from our company and the Lowe's guys. This all aligned like the planets.
I scheduled work on our security system - I worry about fires when no one is home. The dogs don't dial well and they text even worse. Dave, the technician from my work was here, tromping up and down the stairs getting us all secure and working up a sweat. We're set. Dave has an Afghan and I was embarrassed by the condition of Gordon's hair, semi shaved and somewhat matted. Gordy was surprised that Dave was here at all. He howled as he backed away.
Gabby, the 164lbs Newfie was sequestered into our bedroom on the first floor. I ran in there to check on her and then couldn't get out. I was trapped. She was determined to get out and we got into a shoving match - there was yelling, mostly me, dog nails and flip flops do NOT mix. Thankfully Ashlee was home and handed me a treat through a very small opening in the door. I threw the treat, I watched her making a choice and thank God she went for it.
The boiler guy stayed in the basement and informed me my chimney needed cleaning. I thought, "hmmm, that's usually in August along with a good old fashioned breast exam, but surely he means something else." So I will call Burt from Mary Poppins and we'll dance on the roof tops.
The best was the Lowe's guys, I talked them into the woods. They off loaded a Weber Spirit Three Burner LP Gas Grill - bitchin!! I was so excited. This was The Donald's Father's Day gift. We decorated it with bows and calculated when he would be home. Minutes before we were all in the garage poised in front of the grill when the automatic door opened. He pulled in, for a brief moment we thought we'd become part of the new grill. He was very happy - actually he doesn't get really jazzed up, but I heard he was bragging about it on the phone and that's the true test.
Our old Weber turns 20 this year. She served us well and we'll have a nice service for her when we sell her at the end of the driveway.
Home Ownership - a never ending source of joy!!
